Head about 20 miles South of SLC and you’ll find yourself in the sprawlin’ burbs of South Jordan – home to myriad places to eat. But where are the very best and most interesting places in town? The following are my favorite places to dine in South Jordan. If you’re in the area you might also consider the brief drive to West Jordan, Sandy or Draper too.
Angry Korean
Cuisine: Korean
Address: 11587 District Main Dr, South Jordan, UT 84095
Angry Korean is the is the work of Peter Kim and Young-Ho Kang, two Korean chefs with strong backgrounds out of state. Kim’s includes a stint at Momofuku under David Chang – NYC’s king of umami – before moving onto Michelin starred Korean eatery Danji. Kang – a seasoned sushi chef himself across the US and Korea – met Kim here in Utah. The South Jordan is the OG location of Angry Korean. If you stop by, be sure to check out the Korean-American fusion that is the Philly cheesesteak – a big hearty roll stuffed with melted cheese and Korean beef bulgogi. On the more traditional front, the heaping rice bowls are point as is their japchae and kimchi – all made in house.
Saffron Valley
Cuisine: Indian
Address: 1098 S Jordan Pkwy, South Jordan, UT 84095
South Jordan is home to the very first Saffron Valley, an Indian eatery that has since grown to multiple locations over the valley. Saffron Valley offers up a range of Indian classics with several items not commonly found at similar restaurants around town.

It goes without saying theres an extensive array of nigiri, sashimi and maki.
Greek Souvlaki
Cuisine: Greek, gyros
Address: 1067 S Jordan Pkwy, South Jordan, UT 84095
There’s great Greek in all parts of the Utah valley, and South Jordan is no difference. Our pick for a great gyro or stellar souvlaki, would be this location of the popular Greek fast food joint.
The Pie
Cuisine: Pizza

The Pie is an Utah institution known for their loaded pizzas that hit the spot when you need that comfort food pickup. The Pie has locations all over the valley, they deliver, they’re open seven days a week, pour beer, and offer pizzas piled high with toppings and cheese. When you need it, you need it. There’s a reason they scoop award after award, each and every year.

Porch
Cuisine: American
Address: 11274 Kestrel Rise Rd G, South Jordan, UT 84009
Originally opened as sister restaurant to Salt Lake’s much missed Meditrina, Porch is one of the best restaurants in the South Jordan area. Located in the Daybreak neighborhood, the restaurant offers classic comfort foods with a deep South twist interwoven through the menu. Meatloaf, fried chicken, mac and cheese, ribs, burgers, local Utah trout – you name it – there’s a dish that’s sure to soothe anyone at Porch; and it’s also served up in a relaxed and trendy atmosphere. Moreover, this is one of the best locations in the South of the valley to order up a craft cocktail, local beer or boutique wine.
Oh Mai

Vietnamese banh mi sandwiches are the standout selection at this restaurant. Oh Mai offers twelve banh mi in total, from the traditional cold cuts through to contemporary creations with garlic rib eye and braised pork belly.
While the restaurants above are some of my personal favorites in South Jordan – there are several others that you might want to consider. While I’ve not personally dined at these, I know several of my fellow foodie friends love them; they all receive strong reviews and local support.
- El Morelense – renowned Mexican eatery with a speciality of al pastor
- Bawarchi – Indian restaurant that focuses on biryani
- Myungrang Hot Dog – Korean hot dog chain
- The Wild Rose – Upscale American dining
- Sergio’s Pizza – NY style pizza
- Maria’s Mexican Grill – second location for the popular Millcreek Mexican restaurant
Hi, I’m Stuart, nice to meet you! I’m the founder, writer and wrangler at Gastronomic SLC. I’m a multiple-award winning journalist and have written in myopic detail about the Salt Lake City dining scene for the better part of seventeen years.
I’ve worked extensively with multiple local publications from Visit Salt Lake to Salt Lake Magazine, not least helped to consult on national TV. Pause those credits, yep, that’s me! I’m also a former restaurant critic of more than five years, working for the Salt Lake Tribune. I’m largely fueled by a critical obsession with rice, alliteration and the use of big words I don’t understand. What they’re saying about me: “Not inaccurate”, “I thought he was older”, “I don’t share his feelings”.
