Since our last look at the local media scene, there have been more than two dozen notable pieces to read, watch and listen to.

Starting with the City Weekly, Alex Springer makes it to six different stops. Scelto, Koyote, Silverside Deli, Baby’s Bagels, Zimbu, and Huckleberry Grill – all see Springer run the rule over the menu. Scelto, the new Sandy upscale Italian eatery has been picking up a few press inches of late, as has the excellent Koyote, one of the best new openings for 2024 so far. Remember, you can find my write-up of this Marmalade spot here.

Speaking of yours truly I recently appeared on the Small Lake City podcast (Spotify link). Enjoy my dulcet tones as I talk for an hour with host Erik Nilsson about Utah’s food scene, sneakers, and how I have absolutely no other interests except plates, spoons, and forks.

Back to the physical stuff then and Ted Scheffler writes up a variety of pieces for Utah Stories magazine. Scheffler rounds up both a collection of SLC breweries as well as recounting a culinary excursion to Chicago. On the local restaurant front an in-depth look at a retooled Yuta under the helm of new chef Guillermo Tellez (pictured top, credit Gastronomic SLC) as well as the Viking Yurt, Cucina, and Santo Tacos. In the same publication, Brandi Christoffersen looks at what’s afoot on the Park City brewing scene.

In the Salt Lake Magazine, Lydia Martinez spends some time at Oromian, the State Street Ethiopian restaurant – detailing their traditional coffee experience. Martinez is also the latest to discover the delights of Koyote. Also in the mag, Tony Gill recaps twenty years of service at Park City’s Shabu.

KSL heads to House Of Corn which recently moved from Sandy to downtown SLC, taking up new residence in the old Even Stevens digs; meanwhile, Slug’s Kara Dempsey checks out Central 9th’s award-winning Bar Nohm. David Chon’s rebooted Nohm was one of my favorite openings of 2023, I wrote about it in this first-look article. Local writer Valerie Phillips has two new stories this month and tells a duo of tales about the healthy eats focused Aubergine Kitchen, as well as Burger Bar, the storied Roy restaurant, and exactly how their exotic burger menu came to be.

On the gogglebox, Taste Utah take their cameras to Violet, Roux, The Soup Kitchen, Edge Steakhouse, Escala Provisions Company, and the Montage, while FOX13 checks in on Sill’s Cafe, and Urban Hill.
